How much does a facelift cost?

According to the 2007 Plastic Surgery Statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the average plastic surgeon's fee for a facelift was $6,792. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) has an average surgeon's fee figure of $5,031. When you are calculating the cost of your facelift surgery, keep in mind that the prices above are only for the plastic surgeon's fee and do not include the costs for the surgical facility, the anesthesia, the surgical chin strap, prescription medicine, or any tests that may be needed.

"Average" cost of a facelift

The "average facelift fee" is just that - an average. You will find that there is quite a bit of price variation from state to state, and between rural and large city locations. The operating costs for surgical facilities, wages, and insurance all contribute to regional variations.

When comparing prices, make sure that you get all of the costs - in writing, ideally. Detail the charges that you can expect to incur, such as anesthesia, aftercare costs, prescription drugs, and the like.

It probably goes without saying, but we'll say it anyway. Choose a skilled and qualified plastic surgeon for your facelift. Don't just shop on the basis of price.

Medical insurance & the facelift procedure

Health insurance does not usually cover the cost of cosmetic surgery procedures. In all the years we've been operating this site, we have yet to hear of an instance where someone's medical plan picked up the cost of a facelift.
