What is microdermabrasion? - Microdermabrasion vs. dermabrasion

Think of microdermabrasion as being dermabrasion's little brother. Like dermabrasion, microdermabrasion involves removing some of the upper skin layers. Microdermabrasion, however, doesn't go as deep. Another major difference is that microdermabrasion uses crystals to remove the skin, while dermabrasion uses a rotating wheel or wire brush. We sometimes think of it as the difference between sandblasting (microdermabrasion) vs. rotary grinding or sanding (dermabrasion).
