Women, Men and Nose Surgery
If you look at the total nose surgery patient population, you will find that women make up the lion's share. Nearly three quarters of nose surgery patients are women.

Don't fret for men, though. Nose surgery is the second most popular plastic surgery procedure for men, while it's in fifth place among women.

Your nasal function can be improved with nose surgery

Factors that impact the function of your nose

Several factors can impact nasal function. Some of these factors include:

  • Allergies
  • Deviated septum
  • Mucosal swelling
  • Enlarged turbinates
  • Nasal polyps
  • Structural problems.

Any one of the items above can impact an individual's ability to breathe, sleep, or conduct daily activities. Some of the factors may also contribute to headaches.  While some of these conditions can be improved through nose surgery, others cannot.

Septoplasty - Repairing the deviated septum

If you have a deviated septum, the cartilage dividing the nose into two nasal passages is crooked. The crooked cartilage can interfere with breathing and draining of the sinuses. In many cases nose surgery is recommended to correct the septum, and improve breathing. This type of nose surgery is called septoplasty. Septoplasty is a reconstructive plastic surgery procedure. When the septum interferes with either of the nasal cavities, septoplasty is usually recommended.
