Who Is Getting The Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty patients: Who is getting rhinoplasty?

For men, rhinoplasty is the second most popular plastic surgery procedure, behind liposuction. It is the fifth most popular cosmetic surgical procedure for women.  Among younger patients (those under 18 years of age) rhinoplasty is the second most often performed cosmetic surgery.  Otoplasty (ear pinning) was the only procedure performed more often on younger patients.

Women rhinoplasty patients outnumber males by a three to one margin.  Rhinoplasty patients tend to be younger, with nearly 60% being under the age of 35.

The best candidates for rhinoplasty are men and women who are healthy (both physically and mentally) and who have realistic expectations about what the surgery can and cannot do for them. While most of the people undergoing blepharoplasty surgery are under 35, it is not unusual for older people to undergo the procedure.

Age considerations for rhinoplasty patients

While many young people are unhappy with their noses, there are certain age-related factors that should be taken into account when a young person desires rhinoplasty. It is generally recommended that the patient wait until after their growth spurt, to ensure that their nose is fully developed before surgery. This is usually between the ages of 15 and 17 for boys and 14 to 14 for girls.  Your plastic surgeon will be able to give you a more accurate estimate when he or she sees you in person.
