Gary M. Brownstein, M.D. is a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in cosmetic surgery. Since he opened his private practice in 1985, Dr. Brownstein has become known for his surgical skill, the quality results his patients enjoy and his commitment to patient education. He is also highly respected among his peers. Formerly, he taught plastic surgery and served as President of the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Brownstein brings 12 years of formal medical training to his work, two of which were dedicated to the skills needed for plastic surgery. He received his general medical training at Jefferson Medical College in 1973, and went on to complete a surgical internship and four years of a general surgical residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Next, he was selected to serve a year as Chief Resident in General Surgery at Presbyterian-University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. He then finished his formal education with a fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at University Hospitals of Cleveland, also known as Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Brownstein also brings a teaching background to his work. From 1981 to 1985, following his formal education, Dr. Brownstein served on the faculty of Case Western Reserve University where he taught plastic surgery to other physicians. This translates into his commitment to providing all the information patients need to make good decisions.
