About Facial Plastic Surgery
Facial Rejuvenation
As people age, the effects of gravity, sun exposure and the stresses of daily life can be seen in their faces. The results of facial aging are deep facial creases and folds, jowls, loose skin and fat around the jaw line and neck. While one can't stop the aging process, Dr. Lo can perform a two-plane facelift to turn back the clock. By lifting the skin and the deeper tissues in the appropriate vectors, the face and neck can be restored to a more youthful appearance, erasing years from the face without an "overpulled" or tight look.
Although having a facelift won't give you an entirely different look, it can make you look refreshed, younger and enhance your self-confidence.
You may not want to undergo a full facelift procedure and in fact, you may not need one. Dr. Lo will discuss your options based upon your situation and individual needs. A mini-facelift or suture suspension neck lift may be the answer for you. Both procedures can be performed in our office surgical suite in shorter time and with a more rapid recovery than a full facelift.
Neck Lifts - Suture Suspension Neck Lift
(New Procedure)Signs of early aging are saggy skin and fat underneath the chin. This is often called the "turkey gobbler" look. Instead of a traditional neck lift with long scars, Dr. Lo performs a simpler procedure called Suture Suspension Neck Lift that tightens the skin and muscles of the neck and removes excess fat. This procedure is performed through small hidden incisions behind the ears and chin. The procedure is done in our office surgical suite under twilight sedation and only takes 1 hour. Eyelid Lifts (Blepharoplasty)
Aging around the eyes can make one look tired, sad or appear older but the good news is that eyelid surgery is simple and safe with a fast recovery. Eyelid surgery removes the loose skin of the upper lids and minimizes the bags or fat pads underneath the eyes, dramatically restoring a more youthful appearance. If there are fine wrinkles around the eyes including 'crow's feet', Dr. Lo will treat this with the laser.
Forehead Lift (Endoscopic)
Forehead lift or browlift can correct drooping eyebrows, 'hooding over the eyes', forehead furrows and frown lines. Dr. Lo performs an Endoscopic Browlift, a specialized procedure using small incisions instead of the traditional long incision, that will raise your brows, smooth your forehead and minimize frown lines. The overall result is a more alert, rested and youthful appearance.
A forehead lift can be done alone or in conjunction with eyelid lifts, facelift, neck lift or nose reshaping surgery.
Nose Reshaping (Rhinoplasty)
Whether it is a minor refinement or a major change, Dr. Lo can perform a rhinoplasty to give you the nose you always wanted. Nose reshaping can remove a hump or increase the nasal profile, narrow the nose and refine the nasal tip. Breathing problems may be corrected as well.
Be assured that whatever your objectives may be, Dr. Lo will reshape your nose in proportion to your face to look as natural as possible.
Cheek Augmentation
Small cheekbones may upset the balance of one's face. To restore the facial proportions, cheek augmentation may be performed using implants inserted through small incisions in the mouth. This procedure may be performed alone or in conjunction with a facelift.
Over the last few years, Dr. Lo has noticed that hollowing of the cheeks below the cheekbones is becoming an increasing cosmetic concern. This condition can make an individual appear tired, older and unwell. The hollowing of the cheeks can be corrected with submalar augmentation using customized implants.
Both cheek and submalar implants can restore a more youthful appearance, enhance your facial features and give you a healthier look.
Chin Reshaping
A weak chin or lack of chin projection can unbalance an individual's facial proportions. Correction can be performed with either a chin implant or chin osteotomy. What's the difference? Most surgeons are able to perform a chin implant but Dr. Lo with his special expertise in craniofacial surgery, can offer you all the surgical options. Chin augmentation may be performed using different implants such as the extended anatomical or custom implant. A chin osteotomy is an advanced procedure that Dr. Lo performs to move your chin bone forward to give maximum projection and stability - something a chin implant cannot always do. Ear Surgery (Otoplasty)
Otoplasty corrects prominent ears by surgically reshaping the ear cartilage and setting the ears closer to the head. Dr. Lo performs this procedure in adults and in children as young as 5 years of age. As otoplasty is a safe and short procedure, Dr. Lo recommends correction be performed as early as possible to reduce the teasing a child may endure.
