Browlift Risks and Complications
Browlift (forehead lift), when performed by a Board Certified plastic surgeon, entails minimal risk. In some cases, bleeding along the cut tissue can lead to bruising, as well as blood accumulation beneath the skin. This will appear as swelling and is unavoidable but will heal quickly. Very rarely eyebrow movement nerves can be injured, leaving the patient with the loss of ability to move their eyebrows. That is one of the reasons to use a surgeon with board certification in plastic surgery.
Sometimes, a visible scar may appear following the surgery. If so, it can be improved with using one of the many scar elimination techniques available to your surgeon. Hair loss along the incision line can occur, and loss of feeling along the scar is usually temporary but in some cases has been permanent. Infection and bleeding are rare. Although it only occurs less than 1% of the time, endoscopic complications may lead to a coronal procedure instead. Be sure to follow your surgeon’s instructions for preparation and care both before and after the surgery.
While most of the risks are small, there are a few potential risks that you want to avoid. Make sure to research your surgeon to make sure he/she is board certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
