Preparing for Nose Surgery

Preparing for Your Nose Surgery

Some nose surgery preparation information

You should inform your plastic surgeon of any previous injury or surgery to the nose, allergies, or breathing problems.  You probably covered this in your consultation, but if you didn't -- or if anything has changed since you last talked to your plastic surgeon, be sure to discuss it prior to surgery.

IMPORTANT: Also inform the doctor of any medications, vitamins, or drugs being taken (including smoking). This includes herbal or natural remedies, too.

To prevent scarring, you may be asked to cease smoking two weeks before and after the operation. Aspirin, and other blood thinners, should not be taken for two weeks before and after the operation. A driver should be arranged to provide transportation to and from the surgery. Someone should be available to stay with the patient for 48 hours after the surgery to help with day to day activities and watch for complications.
